BRIGHT FUTURE WITH UNIVERSITY PARTNERSHIP
Solar Energy is a vibrant and constantly evolving industry, with educational facilities around the world developing cutting edge solar technology and training the next generation of leaders in the solar industry. Canadian Solar has made the milestone decision to partner with the University of New South Wales (UNSW) in Australia, who are at the forefront of solar technology innovation. Canadian Solar CEO Dr Shawn Qu stated “In this industry, the School of Photovoltaic and Renewable Energy Engineering at UNSW has the reputation of being the West Point of the solar army. UNSW trains a lot of good researchers, good managers and good sales managers in the solar army and this solar army is making great contributions for the environment in every country. It is helping to save the world.” Canadian Solar is collaborating with UNSW on its Advanced Hydrogenation Technology. This technology has been developed to solve the light induced degradation issues which is well known as LeTID in monocrystalline and polycrystalline solar cells that lead to the slow progression of power loss exhibited by silicon solar cells. A research team from Canadian Solar was sent to UNSW in 2018 to begin the transfer of this technology to our production facilities. In partnership with UNSW, we can make the difference to customers through solving light induced degradation issues, increasing the longevity and efficiency of our panels, while also supporting and strengthening the School of Photovoltaic and Renewable Energy Engineering at UNSW. Canadian Solar is committed to making the difference globally through not only providing industry leading technology but also supporting the future of the solar industry.
